Why should I join?
If you love driving, riding or walking green lanes and want to retain your right to do just that, then you should join the association. Green lanes are generally accessible to all classes of rights of way user and are often the easiest to traverse. We aim to protect this unique network of roads and attempt to prevent further losses.
This is where you come in
Your annual membership fee enables us to fund our work protecting lanes. It also provides TrailWise2, our digital map of green lanes, exclusively for members. A significant amount of money is spent on legal challenges and court cases where local authorities are unwilling to keep lanes open for the public. Where possible, we will make financial donations towards lane repairs that our members volunteer to participate in.
By joining us, you help us to keep this network open to all users.
Meet Ken and Marlene
Green lanes have helped Ken and Marlene to maintain the connection to the countryside that has been part of their lives for the last 50 years.
The couple, who live in Cumbria, love visiting the Lake District but Marlene’s mobility has declined to the point where she now needs to access the countryside in a vehicle. Using byways and unclassified roads mean that the couple can still enjoy the stunning scenery of the Lakes together.
